Ensure Long-Lasting Dental Health for Your Child
At Schimp Family Dentistry we see children as young as 1 years old! In fact, the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child's first dental visit to be around age 1 or as soon as teeth erupt. It is a great way for them to get acclimated to the dental office and to screen for any early development oral abnormalities!
Pediatric Services We Provide Include
Nitrous Oxide to Children Under 10 Years Old
Nitrous oxide is a safe way to help children relax during dental visits. With zero side effects, the child will leave the office feeling completely normal.
Fillings and Silver Crowns
Cavities in baby teeth are not uncommon- and can develop quickly! Some cavities can be fixed with white fillings, other larger cavities may need to be restored with silver crowns.
Pulpotomies (Baby Tooth Root Canals)
If a cavity in a baby tooth is very deep, a pulpotomy (or baby root canal) may be needed to save the tooth. Saving baby teeth is especially important because early loss of these teeth can cause other teeth to shift - leaving no room for the permanent teeth to come in!
Extractions and Space Maintainers
When a baby tooth becomes infected or has an exceptionally large cavity, it may need to be removed. At that time, a metal space maintainer can be made to hold the space where the baby tooth was. This device hooks onto another tooth and prevents teeth from shifting to ensure there is enough room for the permanent tooth when it comes in.
