Treatment for Diseased or Infected Teeth
If you have an infected, painful, or discolored tooth, consider a root canal treatment to avoid a future extraction. For most cases, Schimp Family Dentistry provides treatment for teeth that have become infected or diseased.
Root Canals and Endodontic Treatment
Root canal treatment involves the removal of the tooth's pulp (nerve). The pulp is the part of the tooth that provides the nutrients and nerve to the tooth. If the pulp (nerve) becomes injured due to a large cavity, a fracture or trauma, it can die leading to a toothache or even a dental abscess.
Root canal treatment removes this damaged nerve, saving the tooth from extraction. Once the nerve is removed, the tooth can become brittle and will usually need a crown in order to fully protect the tooth long-term.
Surgical and Simple Dental Extractions
A surgical intervention may be necessary when a diseased or infected tooth cannot be saved with a root canal or other restorative treatment options.
